The Chicago Bulls came away with a 124-117 victory, getting contributions from every part of the roster. Five Bulls scored in double figures, while the bench added plenty of production of its own. The result was an offense that never had to rely on one player to carry the load. The Phoenix Suns , meanwhile, had some individual bright spots but struggled to match Chicago’s consistency, particularly when the Bulls’ second unit started making an impact. Not even Devin Booker could be the difference in this one. Here are five takeaways from Chicago’s victory. 1. The Bulls Don’t Need One Player To Carry The Offense The biggest takeaway was just how evenly distributed Chicago’s offense was. Caleb Wilson led the Bulls with 15 points, while Matas Buzelis , Jalen Smith, and Norman Powell each added 13 or more. Powell was particularly efficient, scoring 14 points on just four field-goal attempts while knocking down all three of his three-point attempts and five of six free throws. Then came the bench. Leonard Miller scored 14 points on 5-7 shooting, Tobe Awaka added 14 points and 11 rebounds, and Tre Jones contributed 10 points and six assists. That kind of distribution makes Chicago difficult to defend. There wasn’t a single player Phoenix could simply key in on and expect the offense to disappear. 2. Josh Giddey Continues To Make Everyone Around Him Better Josh Giddey didn’t have a huge scoring night, but his impact was obvious. The Bulls guard finished with seven points, seven assists and three rebounds, while shooting 1-6 from the field. More importantly, he helped keep the offense moving and consistently found teammates in position to score. Chicago finished with 30 assists on 42 made field goals, an impressive 71% assist rate. That’s exactly where Giddey’s value comes into play. He doesn’t need to score 20 points to control a game. His size, vision and ability to push the ball can help turn a roster full of capable scorers into a much more connected offense. 3. The Bulls’ Bench Was A Major Difference-Maker Chicago’s second unit deserves plenty of credit for this win. Miller and Awaka combined for 28 points and 12 rebounds, while Patrick Williams chipped in six points and Drew Peterson added three points and three assists. The Bulls also got eight points and three assists from Brandon Boston Jr. That depth allowed Chicago to maintain its offensive pressure even when the starters began rotating out. For a team trying to establish itself as a legitimate playoff threat, that’s an encouraging sign. The regular season is a long grind, and having multiple players capable of producing off the bench can become incredibly valuable. 4. Matas Buzelis Is Showing More Than Just Scoring Potential Buzelis had a productive all-around performance, finishing with 14 points, three rebounds, one assist, two steals and two blocks. The scoring efficiency was solid as well, with Buzelis going 6-15 from the field. The three-point shot wasn’t there, he went 0-6 from deep, but his defensive activity stood out. Two steals and two blocks suggest a player who is trying to make an impact beyond simply putting the ball in the basket. That’s important for Buzelis heading into the season. If he can become a consistent two-way contributor rather than simply a scoring option, his value to Chicago rises considerably. 5. Phoenix Had Individual Production, But Chicago Played Better As A Team The Suns weren’t completely overwhelmed offensively. Dillon Brooks led Phoenix with 24 points on 7-9 shooting, including three three-pointers, while Jalen Green scored 12 and Devin Booker added 11 points. Phoenix also received eight points and seven rebounds from Khaman Maluach and 12 points from Jamaree Bouyea. But the Bulls were simply more consistent across the roster. Chicago shot 51% from the field and 36% from three, compared to Phoenix’s 48% shooting and 31% from deep. The Bulls also committed five fewer turnovers and produced five more assists. That combination ultimately decided the game.
