Aamir Khan CONFIRMS 3 Idiots sequel is in the works, reveals film is set 10 years later: “It’s a beautiful story”

Actor Aamir Khan confirmed during a recent interview with Amar Ujala that a sequel to *3 Idiots* is in development, set 10 years after the original 2009 film. The project is being led by filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani and writer Abhijat Joshi. Khan praised the script, stating it retains the original’s humor while offering a fresh narrative. He mentioned the sequel will revisit the iconic characters of the 2009 blockbuster but in a new phase of their lives. Additionally, Khan discussed another project based on the life of Dadasaheb Phalke, which has been paused due to script revisions. He also hinted at returning to his role as Phunsukh Wangdu in future films.
