Apple is moving forward with its plan to release smart glasses in 2027, with a possible unveiling by the end of this year, as reported by Bloomberg's Mark Gurman.

Gurman has provided ongoing updates on the development of Apple's smart glasses strategy, and now offers more insight into their design, stating that the company is testing four distinct designs. These designs may be launched individually or collectively.

The designs under consideration include a large rectangular frame, a slimmer version of the rectangular frame (similar to those worn by Apple CEO Tim Cook), a larger oval or circular frame, and a smaller oval or circular frame. Apple is also exploring various color options, including black, ocean blue, and light brown.

In contrast to an earlier, more ambitious plan that involved launching a range of mixed and augmented reality devices, these smart glasses seem to be a more subdued approach. The earlier plan faced setbacks, including product delays and a lackluster response to the Vision Pro.

These smart glasses appear to be more similar to Meta's Ray-Ban glasses, as they will not feature any displays. However, users will be able to take photos and videos using oval camera lenses, answer phone calls, play music, and interact with the long-promised Siri upgrade.

Features and Expectations

The features and design of Apple's smart glasses suggest a focus on practicality and user experience. With the ability to capture photos and videos, as well as interact with Siri, these glasses may offer a unique and convenient way for users to interact with their devices.

As the launch of Apple's smart glasses approaches, it will be interesting to see which design options are ultimately chosen and how the market responds to this new product.
