Lei Kang • Jul 17, 2026 at 1:56 PM UTC Denza shared the first official images of the Z9S, which is expected to compete with the Xiaomi SU7. The sedan measures 5,090 mm in length, with a 3,025 mm wheelbase and a fastback coupe profile. BYD 's (HKEX: 1211) premium brand Denza has previewed the Z9S, a new all-electric sedan, as it continues to expand its product lineup. Denza teased the Z9S on Weibo on Friday, releasing the first official images showing the vehicle in a new "Morning Glow Purple" exterior color. Denza described the Z9S as a new member of its family and positioned it as a "technology-focused luxury intelligent sedan." The official preview suggests the model is moving closer to its formal launch. The Morning Glow Purple finish uses a light violet paint with a subtle metallic texture designed to give the vehicle a more elegant appearance, the images showed. The Denza Z9S features a fastback coupe profile and headlights inspired by meteors. Its side profile includes frameless doors, semi-concealed door handles and yellow brake calipers. The Z9S measures 5,090 mm in length, 1,980 mm in width and 1,490 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,025 mm, according to a previous filing with China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT). Its dimensions and market positioning are close to those of the Xiaomi SU7, which measures 4,997 mm in length and has a 3,000 mm wheelbase. The Z9S is expected to compete directly with the popular Xiaomi sedan after its launch. The vehicle will offer 2 powertrain versions, both using permanent magnet synchronous motors and supporting a top speed of 250 km/h. The lower-powered version has a peak motor output of 320 kW (429 hp), a curb weight of 2,250 kg and 19-inch wheels. The higher-powered version raises peak output to 370 kW, with a curb weight of 2,545 kg and 20-inch wheels. Both versions use power batteries based on lithium iron phosphate (LFP) chemistry. The Z9S is expected to be offered in multiple variants, including a version equipped with Denza's e3 technology and a long-range single-motor version. The sedan is also expected to feature the second-generation Blade Battery, the LiDAR-equipped version of the God's Eye B driver-assistance system, the DiSus-A intelligent air suspension body-control system and a new-generation AI-powered smart cockpit. The Z9S will be another addition to Denza's Z series following the Z9 and Z9 GT. Based on the typical launch schedule for new vehicles in China, the model could officially enter the market within the next several months. Denza is accelerating its product push. On July 9, the brand's first all-electric 2-door supercar, the Denza Z, made its global debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in the UK, becoming the first Chinese electric supercar to enter the European market. The Denza Z began taking pre-orders in China on July 13 and is scheduled to be formally launched in the fourth quarter. Denza delivered 20,352 vehicles in June, up 28.95% year-on-year and marking a monthly record. The brand delivered 66,541 vehicles in the first half of the year, down 16.65% from a year earlier. The Denza Z electric supercar began pre-sales in China on Monday, with a starting price of 680,000 yuan ($100,300).
