All India Radio Warangal station’s programme executive, programme head and station in-charge, Illandula Ravikumar, praised the station, saying it has a special place in the country; its services have become exceptional with modern technological advancements. As part of the nationwide celebrations marking 90 years of AIR, a walkathon was organised on Friday. It began from the AIR premises, continued up to the first gate of Kakatiya University, and then returned to the station. Ravikumar said the walkathon was a grand success; many local intellectuals had successfully used AIR as a platform to take various programmes to the public. Even during difficult circumstances, it had stood by people. Warangal station earned appreciation from all sections of society by conducting various programmes with local poets, writers, artists, talented individuals and experts from different fields. He said, as part of the celebrations, special programmes have been conducted over the past 11 months. The walkathon was organised with the aim of rededicating these initiatives to the public. More innovative and creative programmes would be presented to listeners until June 8. The walkathon was flagged off by chief guest Dr R Uma Reddy, associate director, Regional Agricultural Research Station, Warangal. She said scientists and officials had greatly contributed through AIR in bringing agricultural programmes closer to farmers.
