A price gap of nearly Rs1 million has emerged between the Chery Tiggo 7 PHEV and Jaecoo J7 in Pakistan despite closely related engineering and similar hybrid performance. The Chery Tiggo 7 PHEV is priced at Rs9.5 million, while the Jaecoo J7 is offered at Rs10.499 million. Both vehicles are plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) introduced by brands linked to China’s Chery Group. The Chery Tiggo 7 PHEV is positioned as a C-segment PHEV based on Chery’s latest Super Hybrid architecture, featuring a 1.5TGDI engine, an 18.3 kWh battery, and a hybrid transmission. It offers up to 90 km of all-electric range and a combined driving range of around 1,200 km. The Jaecoo J7, part of Chery’s newer sub-brand strategy, emphasizes design and lifestyle, with a rugged, off-road-inspired exterior but shares core engineering with Chery’s existing hybrid platforms. Despite different branding and styling, both vehicles are built on closely related platforms. Price sensitivity in Pakistan’s SUV market is shaping buyer choices, with consumers favoring vehicles offering stronger value for money. The price difference directly impacts affordability and ownership economics, especially as petrol and diesel prices rise. The Chery Tiggo 7 PHEV and Jaecoo J7 reflect a new phase of competition in Pakistan’s expanding SUV segment, driven by demand for electrified models and heightened price awareness among consumers.
