Downtown Phoenix’s Denū Hotel & Spa debuted, introducing a design-led upscale urban retreat. The destination — a partnership between Pacific Hospitality Group, Berger Holdings and JWG Investments, an affiliate of Sunbelt Holdings — is near the Phoenix Convention Center, and arts, culture, sports and entertainment venues. DEEPER DIVE: 10 Arizona restaurants make Yelp’s Top 100 Mexican food spots The 236-room hotel centers on ritual, renewal and social well-being, conceived as a restorative retreat. At the center of the experience is Solstone Holistic Spa, Phoenix’s first hammam-inspired spa sanctuary, a modern wellness retreat that blends ancient Middle Eastern, Ottoman or North African bathing and purification traditions. That complements dining at Sartén Kitchen & Bar and Nidos Rooftop Bar rooted in modern Sonoran expression, wellness amenities, a rooftop plunge pool and event spaces. “Denū marks an exciting milestone for Pacific Hospitality Group as we bring the Meritage Collection into Downtown Phoenix and expand our presence in a market with significant long-term potential,” said Garrett Busch, president, Pacific Hospitality Group. “Phoenix is a dynamic and rapidly evolving city, and we saw an opportunity to create a hotel that responds to that energy while offering something restorative and intentional for both visitors and the local community. Our approach has always been to create distinctive properties that are closely connected to their destinations, and Denū is a strong expression of that philosophy.” Denū Hotel & Spa photo by Austin LaRue Baker. Design inspired by the Valley of the Sun Denū Hotel & Spa was designed by global architecture and design firm Gensler, drawing inspiration from the energy between Phoenix’s rapidly evolving city center and the surrounding Sonoran Desert. The hotel and spa hasground-floor retail, a café and restaurant opening directly onto the sidewalk. Interior design firm Wild Muse Interiors & Stylo Haus created a warm, contemporary aesthetic. Across the property, earthy tones are paired with tactile materials and sculptural forms to create a cohesive design language, while giving each space its own distinct character. A curated art program by Kevin Barry Art Advisory adds another layer to the interiors, with works selected to reflect Arizona’s landscape, culture and creative spirit. Upcoming plans for a mural in the welcoming Sanctuary space by Baja California Sur-based artist Rodrigo Azanza as well as an 8-foot exterior sculpture by Lalo Hibri inspired by the movement of the Sonoran Desert and the glow of Arizona sunsets at Central Avenue and Adams Street. “Denū brings a new level of hospitality to Downtown Phoenix, with guest experience curated around thoughtful design, elevated dining, integrated wellness and meaningful connection,” said Linda Ding, general manager. “Our goal is to create a destination that feels equally relevant to travelers and the community around us, from Solstone Holistic Spa and wellness programming to our restaurants, rooftop and social spaces. You don’t need a room key to have a relationship with Denū. Our doors are open, and we want Denū to become a place people return to and feel connected to.” The 17-floor Denū’ features guestrooms and suites with a creative take on urban hospitality. A softer, residential sensibility, with tonal palettes, warm materials, organic forms and abundant natural light creates a calm retreat. Walk-in rainfall showers and Serta hypoallergenic mattresses provide added comfort, while Nespresso machine and Smart TV offer modern convenience. Each arrival includes a welcome bottle of wine and nightly turndown service, with pet-friendly accommodations. The Denū Penthouse is a 970-square-foot private retreat designed for extended stays and entertaining. The penthouse has a private bedroom, separate living area, contemporary furnishings and sweeping city views. The spacious layout provides distinct areas to work, unwind and gather, with the comfort and privacy of a residential setting. “Denū Hotel & Spa represents an exciting addition to downtown Phoenix’s rapidly evolving hotel and resort landscape,” said Ron Price, president and CEO of Visit Phoenix. “Business and leisure travelers are increasingly seeking distinctive, elevated accommodations that pair high-quality amenities with memorable experiences. As the first and only downtown property to offer a full-service spa, Denū Hotel & Spa brings something truly unique to the market for today’s travelers.” An urban retreat for renewal At the Solstone Holistic Spa, guests can experience a welcoming tea ritual, steam and sauna, restorative treatments, a relaxation room and wellness offerings. The co-ed hammam-inspired experience reflects Denū’s philosophy of renewal through contrast, steam, warmth and shared ritual. Sculpted stone, neutral tones and low, ambient lighting create a calming counterpoint to the energy of downtown, setting the stage for treatments designed to restore and recharge. Signature experiences include the traditional hammam journey, featuring a black soap cleanse, mineral salt exfoliation and argan oil massage; the rose mint retreat combines full-body exfoliation with a foam massage; and the desert renewal, a restorative aloe wrap and CBD massage inspired by the desert. Couples can also experience select treatments together, creating an opportunity to slow down and reconnect within the spa’s tranquil setting. The menu also includes massages, body treatments and facials designed to support recovery, rejuvenation and radiance, with Marini SkinSolutions products used throughout the facial menu. Denū’s approach to well-being extends beyond the spa, with 24-hour fitness facilities, a yoga studio, and a lineup of wellness classes and events, plus recovery-focused in-room rentals such as Sonna redlight therapy masks, weighted blankets, sound therapy devices. Through a membership program launching in November, residents can indulge in this. Downtown Phoenix’s culinary gathering place From morning coffee and business meetings to pre-event cocktails and post-game get-togethers, Denū’s culinary program is developed to reflect the pulse of its urban setting. At the center of Denū’s culinary experience is all-day restaurant Sartén Kitchen & Bar, which celebrates the Sonoran Desert’s flavors, ingredients, and traditions. Crafted to bring people together, Sartén celebrates the timeless ritual of gathering around the table, with its menu rooted in ingredients, including desert citrus, mesquite, chiltepín, blue corn, agave, heirloom grains, fresh herbs and responsibly sourced meats and seafood. Standout dishes include fire-roasted bone marrow, cast iron mesquite cornbread, ceviche verde, first-tossed elote and a 14-ounce prime ribeye. On weekends, Sartén is home to Gather Brunch, a social, shareable experience designed around the table. Set for four or more guests, The Gather brings the table together over warm pastries, seasonal fruit, artisan cheeses, shared plates and a chef’s seasonal sweet. A signature of the experience, the cast iron cinnamon roll is baked to order and finished tableside with a slow pour of warm mesquite honey butter. Sartén Bar boasts a cocktail program that incorporates smoke, desert botanicals, agave, roasted spice and charred fruit. Live music and a lively happy hour add to the energy of the indoor-outdoor bar and patio, creating a gathering point. Beyond Sartén, Denū’s dining and beverage venues each offer a distinct setting and menu, from rooftop cocktails to coffee and grab-and-go offerings. Perched above the city, Nidos Rooftop Bar offers Latin-Mediterranean small plates and an elevated cocktail program. Signature offerings include the ranch agua, guava frosé, wagyu sliders and nidos nachos, while live music and DJ programming carry the atmosphere. At street level, Blend Café is a third-wave café created as a neighborhood touchpoint, offering curated espresso, specialty teas, artisanal pastries, nourishing bone broth and wellness-minded grab-and-go selections throughout the day. Blend features a custom Italian-made La Marzocco espresso machine from a walk-up window along Adams Street. A central hub for corporate, group and social events Denū Hotel & Spa offers more than 22,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor event space across 18 venues. From executive meetings and intimate gatherings to weddings, galas and large-scale celebrations, Denū provides a flexible setting shaped by thoughtful design, natural light and personalized hospitality. Every space is designed to feel inviting and connected to the outdoors, with natural light and no harsh overhead fluorescent lighting. Residential-inspired interiors, warm lighting and seamless indoor-outdoor transitions create an atmosphere that moves effortlessly from focused business gatherings to memorable social occasions. Standout venues include the Valley of the Sun Ballroom, the hotel’s largest event space; Desert Rose Ballroom and Four O’Clock Terrace, which pair an elegant indoor setting with an expansive outdoor terrace; and Solstice and Solstice Patio, a rooftop venue offering indoor and outdoor space. Sartén Kitchen & Bar has private dining for executive dinners, celebrations and milestone occasions, while Nidos Rooftop Bar provides full or partial buyouts for elevated social gatherings.
