Welcome to Iceman, or actually, welcome to Iceman and Habibti and Maid of Honor. Drake’s long-gestating new album, his first solo full-length since 2023’s For All the Dogs, was preceded by intense speculation among fans and industry voices alike as to who, if anyone, might find themselves taking subtly shrouded subliminals or outright disses on the project. We got some answers before the album even hit streaming services, thanks to the latest episode of the Iceman livestream series. There were two schools of thought here: Drake could ignore such expectations, focusing instead on launching an undeniable new chapter that leaves even his most impassioned critics conceding that he more than met the moment; or, he could indeed go all in on airing his grievances. The album is out now, so let’s let the music do the talking. Leading into the drop was a new episode of Drake’s Iceman livestream project, the fourth overall entry in the series. The latest episode opened with an overhead shot of a truck on an interstate, soundtracked by a song in which the five-time Grammy winner likened himself to the South Korean boy band superstars of BTS. Also featured in the episode were DJ Akademiks, Shane Gillis (as expected), Drake’s son Adonis, and more. But, undeniably, the biggest splash of the evening came when Drake shockingly announced that Iceman wouldn’t be the only new project arriving on Friday (May 15). Instead, he’s giving fans a triple dose, with Iceman joined by Habibti and Maid of Honour, both of which are also out now. Iceman comes in at 18 tracks long, including features from 21 Savage and more. Sexyy Red makes appearances on both Habibti and Maid of Honour, which span 11 tracks and 14 tracks in length, respectively.
