Home Thời sự Culture – Society Emoura Pham won the 4th runner-up title at Miss Grand International 2026, in the final held on the evening of October 10th in Bangkok. Emoura Pham, the Vietnamese beauty queen, concluded her journey at Miss Grand International 2026 with a 4th runner-up finish. The title of Miss Grand International went to Jihan Mohin Dimack from Tanzania. During the final night, Emoura Pham made a strong impression with her bikini performances, public speaking, and Q&A segment. She was subsequently called into the Top 25, Top 11, and Top 5. In the Q&A segment for the top 5, when asked, "In your opinion, what qualities should a strong and independent woman possess?", Emoura Pham likened a strong and independent woman to a bridge connecting and supporting others. She shared her project to build 100 bridges in the Mekong Delta to help children get to school more easily and improve the lives of disadvantaged families. "I believe that a strong and independent woman needs to know how to connect people. She should be a bridge that empowers others, giving them opportunities and the ability to rise up," she said. The Vietnamese beauty queen's performance received enthusiastic applause from the audience. Before the final competition night, the beauty queen born in 2000 experienced several notable milestones, from captivating performances to the incident of dropping her crown and the last-minute dress change for the semi-final. Specifically, on the evening of October 7th, Emoura showcased a design called "Fire Phoenix" by designer Anh Thu, inspired by the image of a phoenix rising amidst flames. The outfit was chosen to replace a design by designer Vo Tien Dat, announced about six hours before the competition. The Fire Phoenix dress used a sheer nude-colored fabric, combined with ruby red, orange, and gold embellishments. On the afternoon of October 7th, Emoura participated in the National Costume competition with a design inspired by the "Vinh Quy Bai To" (Returning Home in Glory) theme by Pham Minh Man, with advice from Ivan Tran. The costume, weighing approximately 20 kg, features striking imagery of two horses and a parasol, inspired by the craft of making paper horses and traditional Vietnamese culture. According to Ivan Tran, the biggest challenge for the beauty queen was maintaining balance while moving with the bulky structure of the costume. Emoura had to control her movements while simultaneously showcasing her demeanor and highlighting the design details. Another notable milestone was the survey results following the closed-door interview round on October 4th. Emoura received 14 votes from contestants for her potential to win the crown, topping the list. The representative from Tanzania came in second with 13 votes, while Thailand received seven. During the interview, when asked who she would choose to win if she didn't, Emoura said it was a difficult question because each contestant had their own strengths. She didn't name a specific candidate but expressed her respect for all the other competitors. The beauty queen said she didn't dwell too much on the survey results, instead focusing on completing the competition rounds. According to her, the support from her rivals might stem from her frequent help and companionship with them throughout the competition. Ahead of the major competitions in early October, Emoura made a strong impression in the swimsuit segment on September 29th in Bangkok. Wearing a pink bikini, paired with a ponytail and striking makeup, she took the center position in the group performance, then walked the runway up the high steps and posed for the cameras. The video of her performance garnered over 501,000 views within hours of being posted on TikTok, along with approximately 300 comments and nearly 900 shares. Many viewers praised her energy, confidence, and stage presence. In the Talent competition on the evening of September 24th, Emoura chose to sing and dance to Sabrina Carpenter's song "Espresso." Wearing an embellished jumpsuit by designer Tony Pham, she performed for one minute and was called into the Top 15. In the next round, contestants had two minutes to showcase their talent. Emoura again chose the same song but did not make it into the Top 7. Although she was eliminated in the Talent competition, she had previously made it into the Top 10 Grand Experience and Top 10 Pre-Arrival, categories voted on by the audience. On September 23rd, during the welcoming ceremony and press conference with international media, Emoura experienced an incident where she tripped and dropped her crown. Realizing the crown was about to hit the floor, she quickly caught it, regained her composure, and continued her performance. A video capturing this moment garnered over 100,000 views on Facebook in about an hour, along with hundreds of comments. Many viewers noted how the beauty queen handled the situation and quickly returned to her performance. On the morning of September 18th, Emoura departed for Thailand to compete in the pageant. At Tan Son Nhat Airport, her mother, 58-year-old Phuong Ha, broke down in tears as she said goodbye to her daughter. Her brother was there to comfort her during this moment. Emoura and her brother have been with her from the national competition to her journey representing Vietnam on the international stage. According to Emoura, her mother is a role model, teaching her to uphold moral values and always giving the best to her two children. She raised them alone, acting as both father and mother, sometimes strict but always a pillar of support for the family. Emoura said she loves and cherishes her mother's sacrifices. Her family plans to arrange their schedules to travel to Thailand to cheer her on during the competition. Emoura Pham, whose real name is Turner Katherine Margaret, has the Vietnamese name Pham Chan Phuong. Her mother is Vietnamese, and her father is British of South African descent. She attended the British International School and The American School before moving to the US for high school at age 15. Afterward, she pursued an Associate in Arts program at Irvine Valley College in California. Miss Grand International was founded in 2013 by Nawat Itsaragrisil with the message of ending violence and promoting peace. The competition was held in Vietnam in 2017 in Phu Quoc and in 2023 in Ho Chi Minh City. In 2025, Vietnam's representative, Yen Nhi, did not make it into the top 22.
