Wolverhampton Film Festival, founded by Arun Kapur and Gurjant Singh, is marking its fifth anniversary. The festival will shine a light on filmmakers with over 70 films screened from 29 April to 3 May at the Arena Theatre. Notable hosts include TikTok star Tayyib Mahmood and comedian Smash Bengali, who will lead free workshops. The event highlights an increase in high-caliber films, including credits from Netflix, Paramount, Sky, Amazon Prime Video, and Apple TV. Last year’s winner was Terminal, directed by Sunny Bahia, with alumni Paul Carey, Rick Joaquim, Max Burgoyne-Moore, and Salvatore Scarpa also participating. This year, a new category for feature-length films and more international films have been introduced. The festival aims to foster creative discussions and networking among filmmakers. It concludes with an award ceremony on 3 May, promoting the West Midlands-based film scene.
