Jack Abbott, Ipswich MP, said it is a very special feeling when Sheeran comes home. He said: "When Ed returns to Suffolk it is always very special. Seeing people come together for his waterfront gig alongside talented local musician Lianne Kaye was no exception." Kaye opened the gig for eagerly awaiting fans, and flew back from her holiday early in order to be part of the special morning. Mr Abbott, who grew up in Suffolk, says the event shows the calibre of arts on display in the town. He said: "Our county has not only produced a global megastar, but we consistently punch above our weight, with world-class music, theatre, and dance, and exciting events happening every weekend. "I wanted to enter the City of Culture competition to show the rest of the country what Ipswich is capable of.
