Kiyomura Corp.'s President Kiyoshi Kimura received the Guinness certificate for the most expensive auctioned tuna in Tokyo on April 20, 2026. The bluefin tuna, weighing 243 kilograms, was bought by Kiyomura Corp. for 510.3 million yen (US$3.2 million) at Tokyo's Toyosu fish market on January 5, 2026. This tuna was caught off Oma in Aomori Prefecture. The tuna was cut and served at Sushizanmai’s main Tsukiji outlet and restaurants across Japan. This achievement marks the second Guinness World Records title for Kiyomura Corp., previously recognized for a bluefin tuna bought for 155.4 million yen in 2013. The auction price is the highest since comparable data began in 1999, with previous annual auction prices rising from 36 million yen in 2023 to 270 million yen in 2025. The auction is seen as a source of good luck for restaurants and a tourist attraction, with visitors watching early-morning auctions from the market’s observation deck.
