JJ’s Star Spangled Salute: The New Ms. Veteran America

Not a typical beauty pageant — and that’s the point. Kimberly Chatto, a U.S. Air Force Veteran from Utah, was crowned this year’s Ms. Veteran America in Tampa this weekend, taking home $15,000 and a year of advocacy work. Chatto served 11 years as both a nuclear combat crew commander and a public affairs officer, and now works at Hill Air Force Base championing Veterans across Utah. The competition celebrates “the woman beyond the uniform,” and proceeds go to Final Salute, Inc., which provides housing for homeless women Veterans and their children — nearly $850,000 raised, over 8,000 people helped. Congratulations, Kimberly, and THANK YOU for your service.
