An LNG-fuelled container ship operated by CMA CGM has become the first LNG-fuelled container ship to dock at the Port of Mombasa in Kenya. The 7,378 TEU container ship, CMA CGM Adventure, built in 2024, is capable of running on LNG or conventional marine fuels, Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) said in a social media post on Tuesday. “Mombasa appears determined not to watch that transition from the sidelines, KPA added. “Even as LNG-powered vessels begin arriving, KPA has been steadily reshaping its own operations through a Green Ports Policy aimed at reducing the environmental footprint of port activities.” The port had received the first LNG-fuelled vessel in January 2026. The call highlights the growing role of LNG-fuelled vessels in global shipping, as such ships begin to appear at a wider range of ports, underlining the importance of LNG bunkering infrastructure as deployment increases.
