By Arthur Hill | at October 10, 2026 10:59 pm Kings center Maxime Raynaud may have suffered a serious injury to his right knee in Saturday’s preseason game with Golden State, writes Anthony Slater of ESPN . Raynaud was setting a screen on Stephen Curry in an attempt to free up Darius Acuff Jr. late in the second quarter when several players collided ( Twitter video link from Sean Cunningham of KCRA). Raynaud was hit on the outside of his knee and fell to the court in obvious pain. Sacramento coach Doug Christie called time out to check on Raynaud, who had his face buried in his hands. Team trainers asked an EMT to bring a wheelchair to help Raynaud get to the locker room. Testing on Raynaud’s knee was done during halftime, Slater adds, and he was officially ruled out of the game with a right knee injury in the third quarter. Raynaud was brought from the X-ray room to the area near the visitors’ locker room, where general manager Scott Perry and owner Vivek Ranadive both checked on him, with Ranadive giving him a hug. Team sources confirmed to Slater that there’s a fear that Raynaud may be lost “for the foreseeable future.” He left the arena on crutches with ice and a large wrap on the knee, Cunningham adds ( Twitter video link ). The French big man is coming off a strong rookie season after being selected with the 42nd pick in the 2025 draft. Appearing in 74 games (56 starts), he averaged 12.5 points and 7.5 rebounds in 26.5 minutes per night while shooting 57.1% from the field. He earned second-team All-Rookie honors. Reynaud was expected to serve as the primary backup to Domantas Sabonis . His $2.15MM salary for this season is fully guaranteed, and the Kings hold a $2.5MM team option for 2027/28.
