Legal Battle Delays Digital Debut of Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar

The spy thriller features a climax sequence with the song Tirchi Topiwale. This recreated version, titled Rang De Laal, was composed by Shashwat Sachdev. Filmmaker Rajiv Rai, who directed and produced Tridev, the original film featuring the song, filed a lawsuit against the producers of Dhurandhar 2. As per Rai, the track was used in an unauthorized fashion. Although the Delhi High Court previously directed both parties to seek an amicable resolution through mediation, the settlement process has hit a wall. At the hearing, audio rights holder Super Cassettes opposed the request for interim relief. Meanwhile, B62 Films clarified that while the movie remains in theaters, an OTT release is unlikely until at least mid-May. Once the stalemate gets over, Dhurandhar 2 will premiere on JioHotstar.
