Podcast host Tito P of Machong Chismisan has apologized for his “disparaging” remarks about Josh Aquino, the son of television personality Kris Aquino, following public backlash over a now-deleted episode. In a statement posted on the group’s Facebook page on Wednesday, October 14, Tito P acknowledged that his remarks about Josh, who is on the autism spectrum, had hurt people with similar conditions and those with loved ones on the spectrum. The host admitted that he called Josh “walang kwenta” during an episode titled “S29E20: Ang Pagbabalik ni Kris Aquino.” Tito P disclosed that he had also been diagnosed with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), saying impulse control could sometimes make it difficult for him to filter his thoughts. However, he stressed that his condition did not excuse his hurtful remarks or the laughter that followed. He also apologized to his co-hosts and The Pod Network, which he said had been subjected to unwanted publicity because of the controversy. He added that he was reaching out to those directly affected and would continue seeking professional advice to become more accountable and respectful. Meanwhile, co-host Lawrence Vivar issued a separate statement taking responsibility for his participation in the controversial episode. He said he had called out his co-host during the recording because he disagreed with the remarks. Vivar maintained that he had no intention of mocking persons with special needs, but acknowledged that the discussion was a sensitive topic that should not have been treated as a laughing matter. He also apologized for any harm caused and vowed to do better. Following the backlash, The Pod Network announced that it had formally terminated its contract with Machong Chismisan and would remove the podcast from its network effective immediately.
