A magnitude 5.9 earthquake struck more than 100 kilometers off the coast of eastern Taiwan at 1pm today, the Central Weather Administration (CWA) said. There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries. The epicenter of the quake was at sea, 136km east of Hualien County Hall, at a depth of 13.3km, the CWA said. Photo courtesy of the Central Weather Administration via CNA The earthquake's intensity was highest in parts of Changhua, Chiayi, Hualien, Yilan and Yunlin counties, where it measured a 2 on Taiwan's seven-tier intensity scale, CWA data showed. The quake measured an intensity of 1 across much of the rest of the country, the data showed.
