Chopta is a lesser-known mountain village in Uttarakhand's Garhwal region, often called the Mini Switzerland of India. It is the starting point for the Chopta Tungnath Trek — one of the easiest high-altitude treks in India - and the Chandrashila Trek, known for its panoramic sunrise views of Nanda Devi, Kedarnath, Chaukhamba and Trishul. Beyond trekking, Chopta offers camping in open Bugyal meadows, birdwatching, nature walks and a visit to Deoria Tal. Unlike Manali or Mussoorie, Chopta remains largely untouched, peaceful and unhurried.
