According to the New Straits Times, Maybank said the renaming marks a new chapter for the group as it becomes the anchor tenant of the 118-storey megatall skyscraper. Effective immediately, Maybank's new registered headquarters address is Level 70, Menara Merdeka Maybank, Presint Merdeka 118. The bank said the move is part of its long-term commitment to the Merdeka 118 Precinct, a mixed-development project that aims to become a major commercial and financial hub while strengthening the city's position as a regional business centre. Meanwhile, Maybank's former headquarters along Jalan Tun Perak, previously known as Menara Maybank, has been renamed Menara Tun Perak effective 28 July. The bank said its Kuala Lumpur main branch will continue operating from Menara Tun Perak until further notice, with no changes to customers' accounts or banking services. "Maybank wishes to assure customers that its Kuala Lumpur main branch will continue to operate from Menara Tun Perak until further notice. There will be no impact on customers who maintain accounts at the branch, and all banking services will continue as usual," the bank said in a statement.
