Miley Cyrus gets own star on Hollywood Walk of Fame

Miley Cyrus turned emotional as she was honored with her own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, thanking her loved ones for their support. The Grammy-winning singer-songwriter attended the unveiling ceremony on Saturday, May 23 (Friday, May 22 in the United States) along with her mom Tish Cyrus, her sister Brandi Cyrus, and celebrity friends Donatella Versace and Anya Taylor-Joy. “My dad used to say that a skyscraper starts with a jackhammer — so does a star on the Walk of Fame, by the way — and it’s not about the force, but it’s about the repetition,” she said, referring to American singer Billy Ray Cyrus who was not in attendance at the event. “What feels so special to me about this star is that it’s an accumulation of devotion. The star isn’t something that you win like a seasonal game, it’s not something that you can chase or collect. It’s not something you make the next record for, and then tote it around like a trophy,” she continued. Miley vowed to continue “the cycle of creation,” saying it is what she truly lives for. She also expressed hope that her craft would leave a lasting impact on the future generations, even when she is no longer present to witness it. “To my fans, you are the stars that make my dream a reality every day, so your love and your support, and I thank you,” she stated, also crediting her team for their contributions to her journey as an artist. Miley then started to tear up as she addressed her family, “To my family, my future family, my parents, my mom, my siblings, my friends, my collaborators, thank you for loving and supporting not only the choices that I make, but my fears, and then facing them with me.” “Today is something that I’ll never forget, and I’m always going to cherish. I love you all so much,” she concluded. Miley rose to fame through her portrayal of Hannah Montana in the hit Disney Channel sitcom with the same name. She has since released several tracks, which have won her numerous accolades including the prestigious Grammy Award.
