Orange Accelerates in Africa: 3 Million Youth to Train and 50 New Digital Centers

During the Africa Forward Summit in Nairobi, Orange announced on Tuesday a major acceleration of its commitments to youth employability, digital inclusion, and inclusive artificial intelligence in Africa. The group is thus strengthening its long-term strategy on a continent where it has nearly 180 million customers. Published on May 12, 2026 at 11:45 Training 3 Million Young People and Supporting 500 Startups by 2030 Orange commits to training over 3 million young people in technologies and the jobs of tomorrow, including artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, cloud computing, and digital entrepreneurship, through free and certifying programs. To support this ambition, the group will open 50 new Orange Digital Centers, bringing its network to 100 centers in Africa and the Middle East. The training will rely on partnerships with 167 universities and learning platforms like Coursera. Orange also aims to support more than 500 new startups by 2030 in strategic sectors such as health, agriculture, fintech, education, and e-commerce, thus enhancing job creation and innovation on the continent. Resilient Infrastructures and AI in African Languages Orange reaffirms its commitment to continue its investments in long-distance terrestrial networks and submarine cables (Djoliba, 2Africa, Via Africa) to strengthen digital infrastructures and reduce the digital divide in the least served territories. The group also announces the doubling of the number of its sites powered by solar energy, aiming for 60% of its fleet to reduce carbon emissions and enhance energy resilience. Orange accelerates its artificial intelligence strategy by developing AI models in local languages integrated into its super app Max it, making AI more inclusive and accessible to African populations.
