Rahul Roy reacts to trolls over viral reels: Help me find work if you are concerned

Actor Rahul Roy, who shot to fame with the 1990 film Aashiqui, has responded after a series of reels featuring him with content creator Dr Vanita Ghadage Desai drew attention on social media. The videos left some users concerned and curious, while also drawing trolling. Breaking his silence, Rahul indicated that he is facing financial strain because of ongoing legal matters. He also called out those mocking him, saying such reactions say more about them than about him. On Wednesday, Rahul shared a note on Instagram that appeared to address the discussion around the reels. Referring to those who mocked him, he wrote that if people ridicule his “simplicity or make fun of his struggles”, it reflects more on them than on him. “I do my work with honesty and modesty. I have some legal matters to pay for, and these are not from today—they are from before the brain stroke happened,” Rahul wrote. He added, “If you mock my simplicity or make fun of my struggles, it says less about me and more about you. If you are truly so concerned, then help me find some genuine and decent work so I can pay for these cases. At least I am earning through hard work, not by mocking others.” Rahul also said staying active remains important for him after his recovery from the brain stroke and that the mockery on social media has been hurtful. “And after the brain stroke, it is important for me to stay active. I want to work for as long as I am alive. It keeps my mind active and gives me the sense of purpose and responsibility that I am still working today. Yes, it may hurt a little sometimes, but you cannot break me,” he wrote. Earlier this week, Rahul became a talking point online after several reels featuring him with Dr Vanita Ghadage Desai surfaced. In one reel, he was seen dancing to Tere Dar Pe Sanam from the 1993 film Phir Teri Kahaani Yaad Aayi , in which he featured opposite actor Pooja Bhatt. While some social media users expressed concern after the reels surfaced, others trolled him and dismissed the videos as cringe. Rahul featured opposite actor Anu Aggarwal in director Mahesh Bhatt's romantic-drama Aashiqui . He was last seen in Kanu Behl's Agra (2025).
