Significant increase in ICT specialists in Cyprus over the past decade, according to Eurostat

Cyprus records a 4.9% share of ICT specialists in total employment in 2025, a significant increase from 2.7% in 2016.

Cyprus recorded a 4.9% share of information and communication technology (ICT) specialists in total employment in 2025, a figure close to the European Union average. According to data published by Eurostat, this represents a substantial increase compared with a decade earlier, when the share stood at 2.7% in 2016. The figure remains broadly stable compared with 2024, when it reached 5.0%. In absolute terms, ICT specialists in Cyprus amounted to 24,700 in 2025, compared with 9,900 in 2016 and 24,200 in 2024. At the EU level, 10.45 million ICT specialists were employed in 2025, accounting for 5.0% of total employment. Eurostat notes that this share increased by 0.1 percentage points compared with the previous year and by 1.5 percentage points compared with 2015. Among EU Member States, Sweden recorded the highest share of ICT specialists in total employment at 8.9%, followed by Luxembourg (8.7%) and Finland (7.8%). At the other end of the scale, the lowest shares were recorded in Greece (2.5%), Romania (2.7%) and Italy (3.8%), according to Eurostat.
