Her net worth has doubled in recent years. It’s no secret that Taylor Swift is one of the most popular musicians in the world. From albums that sell out no matter how many times she releases them with a slight variation, and having performed the highest grossing tour of all time with the Eras Tour, to say she’s well-loved around the world is a gross understatement. But today, she added a new title to her long list of accolades, with Forbes declaring her the richest female musician in history. At 36, Swift has reached a net worth of US $2 billion (or AU $2.8 billion), which is a figure that has doubled in just two years, since she was declared a billionaire. The status has come from years of existing at the top of the charts, but as most Swifties know, the turning point really came in 2020. After losing ownership of her masters in a dispute with her record label that played out very publicly (in headlines and, eventually, in her music), Swift began re-recording her back catalogue. While the move was branded as an empowering move that allowed an artist to reclaim their works, which was true, it also reinvigorated an already dedicated fanbase, with fans embracing the “Taylor’s Version” releases wholeheartedly. Naturally, from here, the royalties from her new music flowed directly to her rather than a record company. Then came The Eras Tour. The three-and-a-half-hour retrospective concert became the highest-grossing concert tour in history, earning US $2.2 billion in revenue, and boosting economies in every city she visited along the way. It was at this time that Swift was revealed to be a billionaire and she reportedly used a fair portion of that money to buy back her original masters for an estimated US $360 million. Though it put a stop to the fanfare around the re-releases (like the long speculated Reputation re-record), it appears to have opened her up to releasing new music. In late 2025, Swift dropped The Life of a Showgirl, which captured the world. Then, on June 4, 2026, Forbes confirmed that Swift is now the wealthiest female musician of all time, on the very same day she dropped yet another her song, this time for the latest Toy Story Movie.
