Beloved Irish radio presenter Tracy Clifford is back on the airwaves in just a few short days following her shock exit from 2FM last month. Tracy bid farewell to her 2FM listeners in May, having presenting on the station since 2015. Her exit came amid a huge shake-up which saw Doireann Garrihy returning to the mid-morning slot, and Katja Mia joining forces with Laura Fox for the late afternoon slot. Confirming Tracy’s exit at the time, RTÉ 2FM’s Dan Healy lauded the ‘phenomenal job’ she did over the last decade. RTÉ then confirmed Tracy ‘remains part of the family’ and teased details on her next venture would follow in due course. Tracy is now back with a brand new show getting underway this Thursday, May 28. Tracy’s new home will now be with RTÉ Gold, with a post shared to their official social media confirming the news on Tuesday afternoon. ‘Really exciting news today,’ the station wrote, ‘We’re delighted to welcome Tracy Clifford to RTÉ Gold for a brand new weekday show. ‘Daytime Gold with Tracy brings you 3 hours of the greatest music every weekday from 10am – 1pm. ‘Starts THIS Thursday, May 28th at 10am on RTÉ Gold.’ Social media users took to the comments in delight with the new addition. One wrote: ‘Amazing, wonderful, fantastic and just splendid!! Tracy is a brilliant DJ — and her tunes have it going on too!’ Another praised: ‘Queen of the tunes.’ A third commented: ‘Fantastic, Bring a bit of life back into the morning slot.’ Tracy came to popularity while on Dublin’s Spin 1038, where she was the head of news and a presenter on their breakfast show. This came before she joined RTÉ 2FM where she became a household name. Hanging up the mic last month, Tracy said: ‘And here we are. I am so overwhelmed with the love from you, listeners. ‘I honestly don’t know what to do with it all. Oh, here we go. After 10 years of us getting to know each other, my dear listener, you’ve been so kind to me. It’s been a joy.’
