Adib Andhar delivers Sarawak’s first Sukma keirin gold after 40-year wait

Adib Andhar Andan won the men’s keirin at the Malaysia National Velodrome during Sukma 2026, marking Sarawak’s first gold medal in the event after 40 years. The 20-year-old cyclist made a steady start and pulled away on the final lap to secure victory. Johor’s Ahmad Danial Haiqal Ahmad Rifaiee took silver, while Negeri Sembilan’s Muhammad Luqman Haqim Ali Badrun won bronze. Adib dedicated the medal to his mother and Sarawak, citing training under Datuk Mohd Azizulhasni Awang as a key factor in his success. He aims to compete in the SEA Games, Asian Games, and Olympic Games. Sarawak Minister for Youth, Sports, and Entrepreneur Development Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah presented the medals. Keirin is a motor-paced cycle racing event.
