Earlier this week, Alec Baldwin revealed he’s ready to retire, but a new report says that the decision might be due to other reasons out of his control. “The offers just aren’t there. Studios don’t want the baggage,” a source tells Rob Shuter’s Naughty But Nice Substack on Friday, April 17, referring to the tragedy that occurred during the filming of Rust . “Insurance is the dealbreaker. He’s high-risk now. That makes every project more expensive and more complicated.” The source told Naughty But Nice that Baldwin was “being edged out” of Hollywood. “It’s the whole package — the shooting, lawsuits, outbursts, constant drama,” a separate source told the outlet. “No one wants to inherit that.” A third source said that the Beetlejuice star was still “viewed as toxic” and “studios don’t gamble on toxic.” MEGA But Baldwin is currently “trying to get ahead” with his talk of retirement. “The A-list version of Alec? That’s over,” a fourth source shared with Naughty But Nice . “Now it’s about staying afloat. He says he’s done. But Hollywood may have already made that call.” In 2021, Baldwin, 68, accidentally shot and killed cinematographer Halyna Hutchins with a prop gun after it was loaded with a live bullet. After dealing with a lengthy legal battle where the charges against the 30 Rock alum were eventually dropped, he told People on Monday, April 13, that he wanted to “retire and stay home with [his] kids.” Baldwin told the publication that after Hutchins’ death, he “wound up staying home a lot.” “I was home with my kids for three and a half years,” the It’s Complicated actor explained. “I hardly worked at all . And that’s just changing now, I’m going to go off and do a bunch of things, but I was home and I got used to it, and I don’t want to leave my house anymore.” This story Alec Baldwin ‘Trying to Get Ahead’ With Retirement Talk After He’s Reportedly Deemed ‘Toxic’ first appeared on InTouch Weekly .
