Bangladesh and Kosovo discussed expanding bilateral trade and economic cooperation during a meeting at the Ministry of Industry, Entrepreneurship, Trade and Innovation in Pristina, Kosovo’s capital. The Bangladesh delegation was led by Ambassador Md. Nazrul Islam, while Kosovo’s Minister of Industry, Mimoza Kusari-Lila, was present. Key topics included strengthening economic ties, boosting trade, and creating new investment opportunities, particularly in pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, and information technology. Both sides agreed to increase business-to-business contacts and arrange visits of commercial delegations. Bangladesh proposed expanding exports of ready-made garments, jute products, ceramics, and pharmaceuticals to Kosovo. Kosovar investors were invited to leverage Bangladesh’s business-friendly environment and invest in its Special Economic Zones (SEZs). Discussions also involved forming a Joint Working Group (JWG) on trade and economic cooperation, exploring a business delegation visit from Kosovo to Bangladesh, and potential collaborations between the Kosovo Chamber of Commerce (OEK) and the Dhaka Chamber of Commerce & Industry (DCCI). Minister Kusari-Lila emphasized Kosovo’s attractiveness as an investment destination due to its EU market proximity, favorable fiscal policies, competitive workforce, and regional connectivity through CEFTA and EFTA. Both parties discussed initiating a bilateral Free Trade Agreement (FTA) to enhance trade and investment opportunities.
