'Captain America' Quinn Simmons headlines returning American classic ahead of World Championships

The Philadelphia Cycling Classic is back in the UCI schedule, set for August 30th. This event will feature several World Tour teams returning to the USA, with Quinn Simmons, the reigning American national champion, as a headline attraction. The race, part of the North American block, will include top riders such as Sean Quinn and Luke Lamperti from EF Education-EasyPost, as well as Lidl-Trek, the former American team now under German license, with Canadian national champion Derek Gee. Former Giro d'Italia winner Tao Geoghegan Hart will also participate. In the women's race, Olympic champion Kristen Faulkner and Canadian national champion Maggie Colest-Lyster will compete for Hyman Powered Health. The race is classified as a 1.1 event, featuring a 14.4-mile circuit in Philadelphia, including the Manayunk Wall. It offers equal prize money of €75,000 for both men's and women's events, one of the highest in one-day racing. The event marks the first edition since 1984 and was won by Spaniard Eduardo Prades in 2016. Riders will use it as preparation for the World Championships in Montréal, Canada.
