Court postpones judgment in Chidimma Adetshina deportation case to February

The Cape Town Regional Court has postponed judgment in the deportation case of former Miss SA contestant Chidimma Adetshina to February 2027. The court outlined that it’s not in a position to determine this stage until the High Court has ruled on Adetshina’s review application. The former Miss SA contestant has been ordered to remain at the same address in the country and report regularly to an immigration officer, pending judgement in her deportation case. Today, the Cape Town Regional Court postponed judgement on the matter to February 2027. It outlined that it cannot decide on the case until there is an outcome on Adetshina's High Court review of an earlier decision to deport her. Protesters from the organisations March and March and Operation Dudula were disgruntled by the Cape Town regional court outcome. This follows a further postponement by Magistrate Reema Khorana, who says the court cannot decide on whether to detain Adetshina pending the High Court review of the decision to deport her. Adetshina has been ordered to remain at the same address and report regularly to an immigration officer. Protesters say they await the final decision on her deportation. Never miss a major story.
