A family-run beauty salon is hoping to retain its title of the T&A's best beauty salon. The Perks of Beauty, on Commercial Street, Shipley, is one of 10 businesses competing for the award this year. 'We have achieved so much in such a short space of time' Donna Perkins runs the business with her daughters, Emma and Chloe. Donna, a hairdresser with 35 years’ experience, provides hair services, while Emma offers nail treatments and Chloe provides massages, facials and other beauty treatments. The salon, which opened in August 2025, won last year's T&A best beauty salon award after operating for just two months. Donna, Emma and Chloe Perkins (Image: Emma Perkins) Ms Perkins said: “We started this business as a rare opportunity for a mother and two daughters to work together in our own fields but under one roof.” “We opened just over a year ago and have achieved so much in such a short space of time.” She added: “We feel incredibly lucky.” 'Clients become part of our own family' Ms Perkins said the salon deserves the award because the family works hard to create a home-from-home experience. Ms Perkins said: “We feel we deserve to win as we put everything into the salon.” "We really try to make it a home-from-home experience where our clients become part of our own salon family.” 'Being shortlisted means everything to us' They said being shortlisted again brought with it a range of emotions. Ms Perkins said: “To have been shortlisted means everything to us - we feel incredibly proud, grateful and overwhelmed.” “To have our hard work recognised alongside so many talented people means more than we can say.” “Thank you so much to our clients that have voted us.” 'We aim to offer a safe space where everyone is welcome' Ms Perkins mentioned that the salon's customer base has become like a family, considering the short amount of time they have been open. She said: “Our clients have become our family.” “We aim to offer a safe space where everyone is welcome and feels at home.” Ms Perkins added: “We have achieved so much including this same award last year and have grown so much as a business since then.” Readers can vote by filling in the coupon printed in any edition of the newspaper between now and October 10.
