A white female friend of Ice Spice, known by the name Lucy, is now facing backlash after she shared a controversial message relating to the physical fight Ice Spice found herself in at a Los Angeles McDonald’s on April 17. In brief, the events occurred after the rapper was slapped during an argument at the restaurant, which eventually became a physical fight both in the restaurant and out of it. Lucy’s message contained the use of the N-word and stated that it was “my white friend’s turn to hang out.” The backlash against her occurred due to her choice of words and the racial undertones. Lucy's Instagram Story Immediately after posting, Lucy faced harsh criticism, mostly because she did not seem to intervene. “This is a** microaggression?! White people don’t fight now? Not surprised this is the type of white girl Ice hangs with,” one person commented. Another said, “Is she out of her damn mind?” While a third person added, “It would’ve been 1000 times better if she tried to help and still got beaten up. She thinks cuz she’s white that’s an excuse?” One other comment was, “Lucy needs to go, and I’m serious.” However, some defended her, claiming that Lucy was de-escalating the tension rather than intervening. Nevertheless, the latter was a minority while most were criticizing her for her insensitivity towards the racial situation.
