Director Koratala Siva, once known for delivering four consecutive hits, saw his flawless streak break with Acharya. He later returned with Devara starring Jr NTR. While the film performed well commercially, it also triggered conversations around his storytelling, putting added pressure on the much-awaited sequel. Now, Devara 2 remains in a state of uncertainty. Though the makers have confirmed that the sequel is very much on, it hasn’t gone on floors even after a year and a half. Ongoing script refinements and rising expectations appear to be the main reasons behind the delay. Interestingly, a new development suggests that Koratala might shift focus temporarily. Reports indicate that he could present Mangalavaram 2 , the sequel to Mangalavaram, directed by Ajay Bhupathi. The filmmaker had already announced a sequel during the release of the first part but couldn’t proceed due to his current project, Srinivasa Mangapuram . With that nearing completion, work on Mangalavaram 2 is expected to begin soon. Buzz also suggests that the sequel will be bankrolled by Sudhakar Mikkilineni, who produced Devara , with Koratala stepping in as presenter. Earlier, Koratala had presented Krishnamma, which failed to make an impact at the box office. If this plan materializes, Mangalavaram 2 could take precedence, pushing Devara 2 further down the timeline. Whether this strategic move pays off or adds more pressure on Koratala’s comeback phase remains to be seen.
