The Indian Air Force has successfully concluded its participation in Exercise Pitch Black 2026 in Australia and Exercise Udara Shakti 2026 in Malaysia. This high-tempo dual-nation deployment aimed to enhance operational capabilities and deepen strategic defence partnerships across the Indo-Pacific. During Pitch Black 2026, hosted by the Royal Australian Air Force, the IAF deployed Rafale fighter aircraft alongside over 20 nations. The exercise focused on complex, high-threat, multi-domain operations and Large Force Employment missions, improving tactical coordination and operational experience. For Udara Shakti 2026, the IAF collaborated with the Royal Malaysian Air Force, conducting high-intensity combat sorties, joint tactical manoeuvres, and enhancing operational flexibility. Aircrew missions involved Su-30MKM and F/A-18 Hornet aircraft, refining air combat tactics and understanding different platforms. Subject matter expert exchanges and maintenance practices strengthened professional knowledge-sharing. Cultural interactions among personnel fostered camaraderie. The exercises demonstrated the IAF’s ability to sustain international deployments, showcasing India’s focus on Indo-Pacific defence partnerships and interoperability. These engagements highlight India’s commitment to regional stability through realistic joint training and collaborative security efforts.
