Indonesia remains highly attractive for foreign investment: Minister

Banjarbaru, South Kalimantan (ANTARA) - Coordinating Minister for Political and Security Affairs Djamari Chaniago said Indonesia remains attractive to investors amid global economic dynamics, thanks to its abundant natural resources, vast territory, and ample room for development. "Global dynamics stemming from post-pandemic changes, conflicts between countries, and disruptions to energy and food supplies pose challenges that must be anticipated to prevent broader impacts on the national economy," Chaniago said during a meeting with local government officials on Saturday. He noted that the country's substantial development needs make Indonesia highly attractive for investment, as many sectors retain significant potential to support national economic growth. The government, he added, continues striving to maintain economic stability while mitigating the impact of global shifts to prevent heavier burdens on the public. "Indonesia is vast, rich in natural resources, and has extensive infrastructure yet to be developed. This makes the country highly attractive for foreign direct investment," Chaniago said. He revealed that foreign direct investment data showed realized foreign investment in the first half of 2026 reached 240 percent of the set target. According to Chaniago, the achievement reflects sustained investor confidence in Indonesia despite ongoing global economic challenges. He stressed that investment opportunities must be managed properly to accelerate development, stimulate economic activity, and improve public welfare. "The government will continue to maintain the international community's confidence in Indonesia so that investment remains a key driver of national economic growth," he said.
