Julie Derron Wins Vancouver T100 as Paula Findlay Shines at Home

The Vancouver T100 marked the only Canadian stop of the prestigious T100 Triathlon World Tour, with the event spanning two days. On Saturday, triathletes competed in Olympic, Sprint, and draft-legal Super Sprint events, followed by a women’s professional race. Sunday featured the 100km event for age-group athletes. Approximately 1,700 athletes participated, with 36% being women, setting a record for female participation at a T100 event. The women’s-only professional race highlighted female athletes, with Taylor Spivey leading the swim alongside Kate Waugh, Sara Perez Sala, and Lena Meissner. On the bike, Canadian Paula Findlay frequently moved into the lead, exchanging positions with Waugh and Imogen Simmonds. Julie Derron, starting 90 seconds behind, steadily climbed to the front and secured victory in a time of 3:33:26, earning 35 points in Vancouver and a second-place finish in Spain, leading the series with 64 points. She plans to compete in Dubai and Qatar to aim for the overall title. Other highlights included Kate Waugh’s emotional return after an injury, Georgia Taylor-Brown finishing third, and Paula Findlay’s joyful fourth-place finish. The event also featured strong hometown support for Findlay. The next T100 event is scheduled for Dubai on November 14th, followed by the series final in Qatar.
