Kyle Schwarber News: Reaches eight times in doubleheader

Schwarber went 5-for-6 with two home runs, two doubles, three walks, three total runs, and three total RBI in Thursday’s doubleheader sweep of the Giants. He foreshadowed his performance with a solo home run in his first plate appearance in Game 1, reaching base twice more via walks. In the second game, he hit four hits (including another solo home run and two doubles). Altogether, Schwarber reached base eight times in nine plate appearances, pushing his season batting average from .190 to .225. Despite the modest average, he remains productive with 11 home runs (fourth-most in MLB) and has drawn at least one walk in six straight games, tied for eighth in the majors with 24 free passes.
