Laos only Southeast Asian country in list of world’s most impressive destinations for 2027

Laos has been named one of the seven must-visit destinations for 2027, alongside the Balkans, Egypt, Namibia, Peru, Uzbekistan, and Western Japan, according to Geographic Expeditions (GeoEx)’s ‘Where to Travel in 2027’ report. The assessment by GeoEx, a leader in curated, off-the-beaten-path travel, was based on criteria such as authenticity, accessibility, timely rewards, and enduring allure. Brady Binstadt, CEO of Geographic Expeditions, stated that over 44 years of creating trips around the world, the best journeys offer rich experiences, deep cultural immersion, and lasting connections. The report highlights Laos as a destination offering a blend of Buddhist traditions, stunning mountain landscapes, Mekong River communities, and deeply rooted cultural experiences. The reopening of the beautifully restored La Résidence Phou Vao in Luang Prabang enhances its appeal, reflecting a broader appreciation for thoughtful hospitality. Beyond Luang Prabang, Laos features forested highlands, riverside villages, vibrant markets, and distinctive culinary traditions.
