Legendary singer S. Janaki, who passed away on Saturday (July 11, 2026), would continue to live in people’s hearts as they can continue to listen to her songs forever, said representatives of various cultural organisations in Andhra Pradesh’s Vizianagaram. They recalled their association with the singer who participated in several concerts in the historical city. Janaki had visited Vizianagaram several times as the Fort City has a 100-year-old Maharaja Music College which trained many great singers such as Ghantasala Venakteswara Rao and P. Susheela among others. The singer received the Jeevana Safalya Puraskaram (Lifetime Achievement Award) from Sri Guru Narayana Kalapeetham on April 1 in a function here. The Kalapeetham founder B.A.Narayana said that her sudden demise had shocked everyone as she was very active two months ago. Along with members of the association, he offered floral tributes to the portrait of Janaki in a condolence meeting held on Sunday morning (July 12, 2026). Friends Fine Arts Association President Dhavala Sarveswara Rao and Secretary Mandapaka Ravi said that she had inspired many new singers and helped them to become professional singers. Vennela Creations Film Producer Balaga Prakash who met her recently said that renowned singer was a great human being and lived a simple life in spite of her name and fame. He said that she had used to take very nominal remuneration and never boasted about herself even after the movies turned into great musical hits.
