Loopfest aims to help fund Shrewsbury's grassroots artists

Jamie Smith, one of the founders of Shropshire music festival Loopfest, announced a new flagship venue to fund grassroots artists and young people in the music industry. The three-day, multi-venue festival starts on Friday and includes over 250 acts across 40 venues, such as Shrewsbury Castle and The Quarry. It showcases local talent and established artists, along with family-friendly daytime activities. The venue, a former mini-golf building in Castle Foregate, was renovated over six weeks with a £2,000 budget and volunteer efforts. Smith emphasized that ticket purchases support creative arts development, including DJ workshops for young people. The event aims to drive music growth in Shropshire and beyond.
