Miss USA & Miss Teen USA Pageants Dropped By The CW Days Before Air

No stranger to controversy over the past several years, the Miss USA and Miss Teen USA pageants have faced another setback. Less than a week before the competitions were set to air on The CW, the network pulled both from the schedule. The CW stated in a brief statement to Deadline: "After careful consideration and conversations with the Miss USA Organization, The CW Network has decided to forgo next week's broadcasts of the Miss USA and Miss Teen USA pageants. We wish the organization and all of this year's contestants well in the competition." The CW had a three-year deal in April 2024 to air the pageants, but Miss USA 2023 contestant Noelia Voigt and Miss Teen USA 2023 contestant UmaSofia Srivastava resigned in May 2024, accusing organizers of abuse and bullying. The network did not air the competitions last year due to ownership changes, marking the first time since 1965 that the Miss USA event was not televised. Both pageants previously streamed on the Queen Beauty Network. In June 2024, The CW struck a multi-year deal with BDE Miss USA, which now owns the pageants, to air them in August. Miss Teen USA was scheduled for August 26, and Miss USA for August 27. The Queen Beauty Network again will stream both events. The pageants have been owned by figures like Donald Trump and WME's IMG in the past. Earlier this month, Miss USA faced controversy with the ouster of former Miss North Carolina USA Brittany Boltinhouse, who was replaced by runner-up Myla Hadley after the pageant condemned racism, homophobia, and transphobia. The pageants' Instagram statement addressed The CW's decision: "Two weeks ago, we identified a contractual issue with our production arrangements that could not be resolved within the necessary time frame. Since then, our team has worked diligently to explore options for a live broadcast on The CW. Unfortunately, we were unable to reach mutually agreeable terms for this year's event." The statement added gratitude for The CW's relationship and openness to future collaborations.
