KNEECAP are releasing a new album today—the second from the globally acclaimed Belfast Irish-language group—with 14 tracks, including *Irish Goodbye*, a song by Naoise Ó Cairealláin (Moglaí Bap) about his mother’s death by suicide in October 2020. The album closes with *Irish Goodbye*, written by Ó Cairealláin about his mother, Aoife Ní Riain, who died by suicide. The song was inspired by a documentary showing his mother happy as a young woman, which deeply moved him. Ó Cairealláin explained that he wrote a song for her before her death, expressing hope that she might feel her worth. The album also includes tracks addressing conflicts with the British Government, Donald Trump, and Benjamin Netanyahu. *Irish Goodbye* reflects on everyday moments with his mother, such as walks in the park and advice, emphasizing the small things he misses. The song features guest vocalist Kae Tempest and was accompanied by a 13-minute film featuring Liam Cunningham and Deirdre O’Kane. Ó Cairealláin stated the song aims to provide relief to listeners, emphasizing that grief is not the individual’s fault but part of the process of healing. Aoife was also a musician, playing the concertina, referenced in the lyrics. The album’s other tracks, like *An Ra*, critique the UK government, and *Palestine* features rapper Fawzi from Ramallah. The band has historically taken on authorities, including a legal victory against a £15,000 grant revocation for anti-British statements. Support helplines for mental health are mentioned, including Pieta House, Samaritans, and Aware.
