Neighbor recalls how he scaled 7 stories to save trapped senior

GEORGE TOWN: A man who scaled the edge of an apartment block's airwell seven floors up to rescue a 78-year-old resident stuck on a window ledge has revealed how he did it. He lived on Level Nine and saw the senior citizen in trouble. While trying to climb out, the man's right foot was stuck in the window grill, and his left foot was on the ledge. The senior citizen was exhausted and hanging precariously. Realizing the senior couldn’t wait for firemen, he climbed over the airwell’s parapet, shimmied along the concrete cross beam, and freed the trapped foot using handholds from neighboring window grills. The window ledge was about 1m wide, allowing him to assist the elderly man, who was so exhausted he sat and rested while the man accompanied him. The senior citizen’s house key was broken, preventing him from leaving. Another neighbor had the backup key and opened the door, allowing firemen to arrive in time.
