Ryan Reynolds surprised Marvel’s Comic-Con panel as “Jeanpool,” an all-denim Deadpool. In costume and in character, he asked for a role in Avengers: Doomsday. The actor posted behind-the-scenes photos to Instagram of his wardrobe change. Ryan Reynolds became the latest surprise Marvel star to pop in for the studio’s big Comic-Con panel. But unlike Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, and the like, the Canadian comedy star came out dressed as a fully denim Deadpool to beg for a role in Avengers: Doomsday. Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige, who hosted the panel, called on someone in the audience with “the swords” to ask a question of the Doomsday cast during Saturday night’s big event in Hall H. At first, it wasn’t clear whether this was indeed Reynolds because the actor didn’t remove his mask. Perhaps it was a body double, and Reynolds just recorded an audio message played in the room. However, Reynolds posted photos of himself in the costume to his Instagram Stories, calling himself “Jeanpool.” Reynolds began the bit by identifying himself as a “longtime listener, first-time caller” and a “huge fan” of Downey and the Marvel cast members. “What can I ask?” he said. “I’m not wearing the Doom mask over this mask because I didn’t want to ruin the lines of my Canadian tuxedo.” He first asks Paul Rudd, “Where is Thor and why is he crying?” referring to a bit scene in Deadpool & Wolverine. Rudd snapped back with a dig at Reynolds’ football club. (“Um, because he’s a Wrexham fan?”) Reynolds’ “Jeanpool” then wished to know if Avengers: Doomsday was still filming, though he was disappointed with the answer. “So there’s no additional photography, no overages, no last-minute additions?” he asked before sulking out of the room. Reynolds is one of those Marvel characters long-rumored for a role in the upcoming December release, though it remains unconfirmed. In an interview out of the Toronto International Film Festival with Entertainment Weekly last September, he mentioned he hadn’t “stepped foot on set” of Doomsday. “But, yeah, that’s about as far as I’ll go on that one.” Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool and Hugh Jackman as Wolverine in ‘Deadpool and Wolverine.’ At the very least, it looks like another Deadpool movie is on the way after Deadpool & Wolverine (2024). Speaking at July’s Fanatics Fest 2026, the actor said on stage, “There’s stuff upcoming. There’s eventually, you know, remotely another Deadpool film. It’s going to be great.” The confirmed Avengers: Doomsday stars in attendance at Comic-Con this year included Downey, Chris Evans, Pedro Pascal, Paul Rudd, Anthony Mackie, David Harbour, Letitia Wright, Lewis Pullman, Kelsey Grammer, Rebecca Romijn, Simu Liu, James Marsden, Danny Ramirez, Winston Duke, Hannah John-Kamen, Tenoch Huerta Mejia, and Hayley Atwell. Ryan Gosling came out prior to the Jeanpool bit to announce he’ll star in a Ghost Rider movie from his Star Wars: Starfighter director, Shawn Levy. Ending the show, Black Panther filmmaker Ryan Coogler dropped by to officially announce a third movie, this one introducing The Long Walk and Alien: Romulus star David Jonsson as Prince T’Challa II (a.k.a. Toussaint), the now-grown son of T’Challa (the late Chadwick Boseman) and the new Black Panther.
