Snoop Dogg biopic set for August 2027 release, Jonathan Daviss to lead "Snoop", a biographical drama based on the life of rapper and entrepreneur Snoop Dogg, will make its debut in theatres in the US on August 6, 2027, Hollywood studio Universal Pictures has announced. The film will replace the studio's previously scheduled Untitled Universal Event Film on the release calendar, according to Deadline. Directed by Craig Brewer from a script rewritten by him based on Joe Robert Cole's original screenplay, the movie stars Jonathan Daviss in the title role. According to the studio, the film chronicles the rise of Snoop Dogg from his early years to becoming one of hip-hop's most influential artists and entrepreneurs. The project marks the first feature to be produced under Death Row Pictures' overall deal with NBCUniversal Entertainment. The film is produced by Brian Grazer of Imagine Entertainment, Snoop Dogg and Death Row Pictures president Sara Ramaker. It will feature music from the rapper's extensive catalogue. Universal has previously backed successful music biopics, including "Straight Outta Compton", based on pioneering rap group N.W.A, and "8 Mile", inspired by the life of rapper Eminem.
