India Meteorological Department forecasts thunderstorms, light rain, and gusty winds over Delhi for the next two days, extending relief from the heatwave. Temperatures have dropped below normal, with maximum recorded at 36.4°C and minimum at 22.8°C, indicating a broader cooling trend. IMD projects an unusually wet pre-monsoon season with May rainfall likely exceeding 110% of the Long Period Average (LPA). A yellow alert has been issued for Delhi amid fluctuating weather conditions. Recent rain and hailstorms have caused temperatures to fall below 40°C. Station-wise data shows Palam at 35.1°C, Lodhi Road at 34.6°C, Ridge at 34.9°C, and Ayanagar at 35.4°C, all below normal. IMD forecasts partly cloudy skies turning overcast with light rain, thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds of 30–50 kmph, particularly in the evening and night. On May 3, light rainfall is expected with winds up to 50 kmph, persisting similarly on May 4. Air quality in Delhi remains in the ‘moderate’ category, with AQI at 119. IMD also predicts widespread rainfall in eastern and northeastern regions, with thunderstorms and gusty winds reaching 40–60 kmph through early May.
