El Grande Americano triumphed over his namesake in a bloody Mask vs. Mask match in the main event of AAA Noche de Los Grandes Week One. The OG Americano went after his namesake even before the bell rang, as he hit him with a guitar. The OG dominated large portions of the first half of the match, attempting everything at his disposal to take down his bitter rival. He executed an Angle Slam off the steel steps, threw a piece of a broken table, performed a Suplex at ringside, and even threw a chair at him. Amid all this, he tore apart the side of Americano’s mask and repeatedly punched him, leaving his left eye bruised. The OG continued to bully El Grande Americano as the audience rallied behind their hero. But the OG was relentless in his attack. He Superlexed Americano to knock the wind out of him to exert more control on the proceedings. The OG continued to punch Americano, who suddenly stormed back into the proceedings with a Blockbuster. Americano tried to completely tear apart the OG’s mask and nearly succeeded before the latter shoved him away. The OG was busted open by this point, with a section of his mask torn apart. Americano introduced more steel chairs into the equation and positioned one of them between the turnbuckles. However, the OG responded with a German Suplex. After Americano got the better of the chair shots exchange and covered the OG for the pinfall, Los Americanos Hermanos showed up and attacked Americano. However, Los Americanos came out to even the odds, brawling at the entrance ramp. The match also saw interference from Pimpinela Escarlata, who hit the OG with a guitar. El Grande brought a bullrope in the ring, but before he could use it, the OG low-blowed him and started whipping him with it. He tied the rope around Americano’s face and sent him face-first on a steel chair, but the latter continued to fight. As the OG started choking out El Grande Americano, Andrea Bazarte showed up at ringside. This distracted the OG, who left the ring to confront Bazarte. Americano capitalized on the distraction and planted his opponent with a DDT on a steel chair. After exchanging punches, the OG sent Americano into a corner and then hit the Moonsault. But that also didn’t get the job done. This frustrated the OG, who targeted Americano’s leg with the steel chair and then applied the Ankle Lock. After much struggle, Americano was able to finally break free. He ultimately finished off a bloodied OG with a running headbutt to a massive ovation from the fans. El Grande embraced Escarlata after his victory and was then joined by Bazarte and Los Americanos in the ring. After the match, the OG revealed his hatred for lucha libre as the motivation behind putting on the mask and that he learned everything about the Mexican culture and its people during the journey. He admitted that he couldn’t overcome the Mexican spirit and told Americano that he would always be the OG before finally unmaking himself and revealing himself to be Chad Gable. Gable handed over the mask to Americano and exited the ring. The show ended with Rayo and Bravo hoisting El Grande Americano on their shoulders.
