Original El Grande Americano’s Identity Officially Revealed

Chad Gable was unmasked at AAA Noche de los Grandes, which took place this Saturday, May 30, at Arena Monterrey in Mexico. In the show’s main event, the Original El Grande Americano lost to El Grande Americano, the character currently portrayed by Ludwig Kaiser, in a Mask vs. Mask Match. As a result, Gable was forced to remove his mask after the match. The rivalry had been one of the biggest parts of WWE and AAA’s partnership in recent months. Gable was the first to play El Grande Americano, but he was later sidelined with an injury, opening the door for Kaiser to take over the character and turn him into one of AAA’s most popular names. The contrast between the two versions also helped elevate the story. While the Original El Grande Americano became the villain in Mexico, Kaiser was embraced by the local crowd, especially because of his connection to Mexican culture and his use of Spanish. With the win, Kaiser remains the only active El Grande Americano. He recently won the Rey de Reyes Tournament, earning a future title shot against current champion Dominik Mysterio.
