India captain Shubman Gill won the toss and elected to bat first in the second cricket Test against Sri Lanka at the Sinhalese Sports Club in Colombo. India leads the two-match series after winning the first Test in Galle by 165 runs. Sri Lanka has recalled Pasindu Sooriyabandara for his first full Test after replacing the injured Dinesh Chandimal as a concussion substitute. With Chandimal still unavailable, Sooriyabandara remains in the squad for the second Test, which Sri Lanka must win to level the series. Opener Nishan Madushka has been replaced by Kamil Mishara, who is making his Test debut. India has also made changes to their bowling lineup, leaving out left-arm spinner Kuldeep Yadav and including spin-bowling all-rounder Saransh Jain, who is playing in his first Test. Saransh Jain has scored 2,223 runs and 188 wickets in first-class matches.
